About Jess Sorel
Jess Sorelās creative work demonstrates his passion for questioning the status quo. Formerly the design director at Metro Furniture/Coalesse, Jess established sorelstudio in the San Francisco Bay Area to provide product design, creative direction and design strategy services to its clientele. He thoroughly enjoys working with his clients to help achieve their creative and strategic objectives. Sorelās thoughtful approach is evident in the success of his many projects and product designs. Driven by an intense curiosity about the context in which objects are made and used, Sorelās primary focus is on understanding and interpreting the world around him, with an eye on the evolution of culture and technology and their impact on the way we live, work and play. Jess Sorel holds numerous design and utility patents and his work has been featured in Abitare, Azure, Blueprint, Contract, Domus, Dwell, Fast Company, I.D. Magazine, Interior Design and Metropolis.
STRATA Beam, a member of the STRATA family of products, creates distinctive gathering and resting places in natural and urban settings. Meldstoneā¢ structural elements spanned by slatted wood seat and table surfaces provide contrasts between cast and milled, hard and soft, cool and warm materials. STRATA Beam table benches come in 31ā and 69ā lengths. The 69ā bench is sized for easy ingress and egress, and 31ā-long single-seat benches can be paired at the table or placed individually to provide wheelchair access. The STRATA Beam three-seat, 80ā-long bench is available with and without a back and optional arms.
STRATA Beam benches are modular, widening the scope of the STRATA Beam family and enabling designers to create customized configurations ranging from L-benches and U-benches, to fully enclosed polygons, to snaking asymmetric runs and mixed configurations in conjunction with singular STRATA Beam benches. STRATA Beam benches join together using modular bridge legs and three different angle connectors in 90Ā°, 60Ā° and 45Ā° to offer unmatched creative freedom in crafting customized configurations. STRATA Beamās Meldstone components are offered in a white, natural and deep gray.
